For any of the ladies out their please help, let me know if female masturbation negatively affects their sex drive! Girlfriend never is in the mood anymore (ie maybe once a month…), also noticed she masturbates more than she used to. Wondering if there was any correlation between the two occurrences. just looking for some answers. thanks.

Question by Nicole: Could having only one ovary affect your libido?
I had my son in the beginning of May and by the end of May had an ovary removed. Since then my libido is gone. I don’t know if that has anything to with it or if it’s my hormones. Any thoughts?

One common problem that happens is this. I have been there and done that. You have to figure out what it is first that is destroying your sex drive. If your on medication like birth control or anti-depressants that is something to think about and do research on. Other then that it could just be stress, maybe the kids, really anything that makes your life stressful can do this and lower the libido.

One thing I tried that seemed to work while I was doing it was exercising. I just felt sexier doing it which kind of boosted my libido. However it wasn’t the best solution for me. My friend told me about these herbal enhancers that are made from natural herbs and don’t cause any side effects besides having wild sex. She said it’s the female version of viagra. I had to find out.

I would always have a weak orgasm too (if I had one at all), which after trying this sex enhancer, it boosted them tremendously. This is pretty normal for birth control…I was in your same situation and tried everything to restore it. I switched pills a couple times and gave up, the libido was just not coming back. I then found a natural herbal enhancer that is supposed to increase your sex drive and a couple other things. However it’s like an instant libido rush and as I kept using it my sex drive was through the roof and continues to be. My boyfriend has sleep apnea and rarely seems interested in sex. Can it really have this profound of an effect on a person’s sex drive. I have tried to be patient but sometimes I feel like he is just plain lazy and uncaring. Am I really that selfish or is sleep apnea really that bad for men?

Sleep apnea has nothing to do with his sex drive. If he has a low sex drive either that is just the way he is or he should see his doc about it. It is not caused by his sleep apnea.

I’ve heard cigarettes are a real libido killer. But obviously, plenty of people who smoke are having plenty of sex.

Can someone explain this? I smoke 10-15 cigarettes a day. What would I notice in that area if I quit or drastically cut down?

*I realize quitting smoking would be a huge health benefit in many ways, and am working toward it. I’m not demanding justification for quitting smoking, just curious how much it really affects libido.

As far as I know, it has the opposite effect, since it’s a stimulant and increases testosterone levels. My own experience as a former smoker would seem to support that — my libido went down rather than up when I quit. But over many years, smoking can contribute to impotence by damaging the circulatory system.

My g/f had a baby and had the mirena inserted about 1 year ago. We have had sex, oh, about 7 times since.

Medically, caffeine is useful as a cardiac stimulant and also as a mild diuretic (it increases urine production). Recreationally, it is used to provide a “boost of energy” or a feeling of heightened alertness.

In short caffeine blocks adenosine reception so you feel alert. It injects adrenaline into the system to give you a boost. And it manipulates dopamine production to make you feel good.

Taking the above in consideration you may say that caffeine can have a positive effect on the male sex drive.

I never heard you can last longer on caffeine. If you want to last longer take a 30 sec break every time you start to reach your peak.

Not directly, unless you at the extreme either way. In most cases it becomes a matter of self image. A psychological problem rather than a physical one. In a few cases the underlying cause for being extremely overweight or under weight can have complicating physical factors that may contribute to a decreased sex drive. With no complicating factors, being only a bit over or underweight should not affect male sex drive.
