Anyone else in early-mid thirties and think they’re starting perimenopause?09.08.10

Question by GBR: Anyone else in early-mid thirties and think they’re starting perimenopause?
I’m 33. I’ve always had very regular periods up until I got pregnant with our daughter (born last April). Since then I’ve been a hormonal mess. I got back on the pill to help even things out again, and have been having very irregular periods since giving birth. I have 2 periods a month – and this has been getting gradually worse (not better) over the past 4 months or so. I had an ultrasound to check for fibroids or polyps – none found. I just went today to get blood drawn to test for thyroid issues…
In talking with my Mom today, she told me that she started perimenopause in her early-mid thirties, and was completely done with no periods by the age of 42. The things that I described to her (night wakes with sweats; irregular periods after many years of regular ones; mood swings; etc) sounded very familiar.
I can’t help but think that I am much too young for this to be happening. I guess I was just looking for a little support from others in similar places in their lives.

I have not gone thru perimenopause yet but I have met some other women who have. I have the link to a site that may help you find even more information. If interested in checking it out please e-mail or IM me off site. Please put in the subject line “women’s health site”.

Does anyone have any information on Perimenopause?09.06.10

Question by XtrmlyBlessed2009: Does anyone have any information on Perimenopause?
Today I went to the emergency room for heavy bleeding for 10 days and still counting. Only for them to have me wait and then tell me something I already knew, and that is that my urine test came back negative for a pregnancy and that I am anemic, I received no internal exam although I told the nurse that there was discomfort when she pressed on my belly, she however prescribed me birth control pills and told me it should stop the bleeding.Anyway I have been doing some research on the internet about my symptoms and I came across the word PERI MENOPAUSE I have some of the symptoms such as the irregular period, mood swings, fatigue, headaches, but that’s about it and from what I read a woman normally starts in her 30’s to 40’s but I am still in my 20’s. If there is anyone that knows anything about perimenopause please help me, because I am really worried about whats going on with me.
I would go to a GYN but I lost my employment and no longer have any kind of insurance and can’t afford a GYN.
Thank You

As a mum of 3 it sounds like 1. your IRON levels are low and this can cause abnormal menstrual flows- you need to get a vitamin IRON table from your pharmacy to boost these levels, 2. you may have uterine fibroid and as a result only a laporoscopy/ internal ultrasound will diagnose 3. you may have undischarged uterine lining that is causing the abnormal bleeding.
GET TO AN OB/GYN asap.
these items, 1/2/3 can be life threatening – my elder sister clinically died from her monthly cycle and low iron levels- GET TO A DR. OR HOSPITAL NOW- ur life could depend on it.

Has anyone been prescribed estrogen following fibroid removal surgery?08.10.10

Question by blumarina: Has anyone been prescribed estrogen following fibroid removal surgery?
I am 31 years old and had a 1 cm fibroid in my uterine cavity. I just had it removed (myomectomy) on Thursday. I am planning on getting pregnant in the next year. My doctor at UCSD prescribed me estrogen for 3 weeks to prevent scar tissue from forming. I was just wondering if anyone else was prescribed this as I hadn’t heard of it anywhere else. If so, what was your experience? Thanks!

Guess it’s a common medical recommendation for your situation…how old are you? Personally I use herbs specific for female hormone issues…you can always check into that as an option. Normal for the body to have the ups and downs of estrogen during this time…and as I am a ‘Natural’ practitioner, that’s what I lean towards. Maybe someone else who has used the pill can give you more info.

Good luck!

yes it makes it worse. You need medication to fight it. Basically, you need medication to make your body strong and to fight psoriasis. I remember when i use to have hormone problems, I would have all sort of rashes, etc. See a doctor is my best advice.
