Perimenopause Help

Question by TB: Is it safe to take estrogen progesteron and herbs for hot flashes together?
I am on estrogen alone and it is not working for me. Doctor cannot help, doesn’t feel I know what I am talking about. I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago(ovaries out) and have been miserable ever since. A friend suggested adding progesterone and herbs. I do not flash, just live in a oven. Is it safe to take all 3 together?

Progesterone can be taken with certain herbs in limited dosages, but if you are also taking any prescriptions for it (or a prescription level Progesterone), I would recommend that you ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you’re taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not…. anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn’t always accurate, as we all know) Good luck!

Question by s: What hormone causes the hot flashes during the perimenopause?
Is it the progesteroene levels struggling to rise or is because the estradiol is higher than the progesterone or is it just low progesterone. The information out there is confusing?

It’s the lack of estrogen. The body gets used to it, and when it goes away, there’s hell to pay.

My mother’s doctor told her that hot flashes are a kind of temper tantrum thrown by the brain, when it calls for estrogen and doesn’t get any.

Today my friend’s mom has been having moderately severe dizzy spells. And after her hot flashes and dizziness subsides she gets very cold and starts having the chills. Can anyone tell us what’s wrong and maybe a way to temporarily cure it?

For the past few days I’ve had terrible dizziness and hot flashes. The dizziness gets so bad that I’m scared to carry my 4 month old around for fear that I will fall over or drop her. The hot flashes are pretty much constant, I have them all day and they just come and go, they get the worst when I’m walking around. What could be the cause of these?

I know hot flashes are common in menopause but a 13 is not in menopause is there a reason why a 13 year old would get frequent hot flashes?
