I get Lutera for free because we don’t have insurance, but it has zapped my libido. Also, will herbal supplements interfere with the pill’s effectiveness?

chocolate and exercise. This happen to me. These two things will make you release the “feel good” hormone and should make you feel better. Also, more foreplay should help. Try it.

There is actually a female viagra, called “Intrinsa”. You can get it on the NHS I believe. Hope that helps!

Awhile back I heard of a natural supplement that can increase the male libido (sex drive) and would like to find it again. PLEASE don’t send me advertisements for expensive pills designed for this (gimmicks, usually!!). I just would like to know which natural herbal supplements are able to increase sex drive in men.

yohimbe is the best but if the person has high blood pressure than dont , but the next best supplements is horney goat weed and trubulus terrestris. Tribulus gets you going and horney goat gives you more stamina

My wife suffers from low libido and will not see a doctor about the issue, but she does love candles. I was wondering if I could use scented candles to do an end-run around the problem by finding a scent that is known to increase libido. I figured anything would be worth a shot at this point. Ideas?

Hi Rob,

I have a nice collection of candles, all sorts really.
My favourite are mud chocolate scented candles, they are so lovely and they do get us both in the mood.

My tip for you though, would be to aim for relaxation, because all great sex begins with a lovely bit of relaxation. So heres my tips for you, based on my own experience.
Light a candle of your wifes favourite scent
Only use lubricants, massage oils etc, with the same or no scent at all compared to the candle, as too many candles can really smell sickly.
Offer a foot massage, and work your way up from there, making sure she is comfy and relaxed.
Be persistent with this, even if she doesnt really go for it the first time round, it will work!
Floral and fruity scents dont work for me, they just smell too sickly sweet, but a nice softly scented mocha or chocky candle is just lovely.

Only reason women want sex to start with is to start a family/have a child, but in a sense women have a small amount of libido, hence said that must be the reason they don’t crave it much or don’t have much desire for it. Right or Wrong??? In other other terms unless it’s for procreation, sex is a crutch for them.

Women crave less sex because we live in a society that suppresses female libido while over-glorifying male libido. After years of being told that it’s wrong for a girl to have sex or masturbate, they learn to suppress sexual urges.
In addition to that, many women go onto hormonal birth control when they’re very young. Hormonal birth control has the well-known side effect of suppressing the natural sex drive. Many women are not aware of this side effect and assume that their normal libido is low.

Sex is just as enjoyable for women as it is for men; most women who have sex do not see it as a crutch but rather an enjoyable, pleasurable, fun experience. Assuming women are biologically geared to crave less sex because in our society women express less of a desire for sex is… faulty reasoning. Not only that, but that idea is easily disproved by examining other cultures, many of them where it is considered “obvious” that men crave less sex than women.

1) I know that thyroid medication levothyroxine is known for drastically decreasing sex drive, are there any all nature herbs that will help increase libido without counteracting, or in some way negatively affecting the thyroid medication?

2) Does someone who has hypothyroidism have to take medication for the rest of their lives?

Hi, Not sure where you got the idea that levothyroxine drastically reduces sex drive. This is not true and I’m saying this as a qualified nurse and someone who has been taking high levels of levothyroxine since having a total thyroidectomy in 1991.
Some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism are sluggishness and lethargy which are more likely to affect sex drive than the drug. Levothyroxine is replacement therapy, just like hrt, iron tablets, insulin or even multivitamins. As long as you are on the correct dose you should have no problems with sex drive or any other symptoms. Blood tests should be done regularly, ie monthly or so until dosage is correct, then yearly.
Some things can affect the levels of thyroxine in your blood, for example if I go on holiday to an unusually hot place just prior to have my bloods done, this can affect the results. You just need to make sure that the doc knows you’ve been away so he doesn’t increase or reduce the dose.
You will be on this drug for the rest of your life and you will learn how to recognise whether your levels are rising or falling and if you need to change dosages. I get a ‘generally unwell feeling that I can’t put my finger on’ if my levels fall too low. After a couple of days I get a blood test done.
