Will anorgasmia and lowered libido caused by Prozac get better with time?02.12.12

Question by sam5935: Will anorgasmia and lowered libido caused by Prozac get better with time?
I recently started taking Prozac, 10 mgs. for depression. I immediately got anorgasmia, and a significantly lowered libido. My psych. says this may get better with time, but my understanding is that these types of side effects rarely improve. Anyone know the answer to this?

according to your age. this may get better in time. but if you’re over 35, this may be an ongoing thing. give your body enough time to adjust to the prosaz. you haven’t taken it long enough to know yet. six months from now–if you’re still having this problem, go on another kind of med with less side-effects. good luck.

How is lowered libido (sexual desire) a bad thing?02.08.12

Question by Science guy: How is lowered libido (sexual desire) a bad thing?
One of the side effects of finasteride is lowered libido, and many men seem to evade this drug because of this. I can’t see how lowering your libido can be considered bad. Maybe it’s just me but doesn’t having a low libido help you not do stupid things and help you concentrate on more important stuff in life?

your right . . . but some men see only the shallow things in life, if u say lowered libido they automaticly think gay, on the way to becoming gay, or some wierd person that doesn’t need or enjoy sex (don’t take it personal i think the way u stated it is a lot smarter than all my friends picking on my room mate, but i can’t say i didn’t pick on him as well untill he explained to me what that drug does).

After having kids my husbands libido seems to have lowered and mines still strong. How can I lower mine? ?09.29.11

Question by Rachel: After having kids my husbands libido seems to have lowered and mines still strong. How can I lower mine? ?
I am 23 years old adn he is 36 years old. We had kids recently and he works a lot and is very tired most of the time. Which is what I think may have lowered his libido. Mine however stands strong. I like to have sex at least 2x a week or I’m sexual frustrated. Is there anyway I can lower my libido?

I think you should want to get your husbands libido back even with yours instead of wanting to lower yours to his level! I don’t think you should have to sacrifice your sex drive to meet his. Think of ways you can spice things up for him…be waiting for him when he gets home from work and what not :)
