Perimenopause Help

Question by Livia: How long until my period is regular, and when does menopause happen?
I hate that my period’s irregular! I always think that I’m fine and then I go and bleed all over my underwear at school when I can’t just change them and wash them, and the blood sets in. I’ve had my period for just over a year, so I know that it can still be bouncing around, but for how long?
And around what age does menopause occur? On second thought, what is menopause exactly?

2 years, apparently.
And I’ve heard menopause is like when your 50 or something…?
It’s when your period stops but you get like really bad cramps, or so I’ve heard.

I had a few months when they were more often, more liquidly, more bright red. Peri menopause causes them to be different altogether. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I am 39 and my periods were never regular until after my last child. Now my period has lasted 17 days and counting, when do I go make sure nothing else is going on? Are there any other things to watch out for?

Most of us here are preggo or TTC and not menopausal in the least…
