Are irregular periods a sign of perimenopause?10.25.11

Question by Mrs. Spock: Are irregular periods a sign of perimenopause?
When I went to my gyn. last week, he said that I was probably in perimenopause because my last period was 6 days late and my breasts were sore after my period instead of before it. Now I’ve started 9 days early. Aren’t cycles supposed to come farther and farther apart or are they generally just wacky like this? Everything was okay at my gyn. visit. I’m 43.

Wacky cycles are a no. 1 sign of perimenopause.

Some women are lucky, like my auntie to just stop their periods period, but most of us go through one or two years of crap like that.

Other signs – flushes, insomnia.

My periods lately are much lighter than I usually experience. Is this perimenopause?10.16.11

Question by thbeatgozon69: My periods lately are much lighter than I usually experience. Is this perimenopause?
I have noticed that the past few months my periods are a little bit irregular as they sometimes start a few days earlier than anticipated, they are lighter, and last shorter than what I usually have. I also have been noticing more irritable moods and some brief blurry vision from out of nowhere. I’m wondering if I’m starting the transition into menopause…I’m 41 in case you’re wondering.

No, and 9 is the normal maturing age for girls.
