Q&A: I need some info regarding perimenopause and its symptoms.?09.03.10

Question by bt71: I need some info regarding perimenopause and its symptoms.?
I am 54 and my periods have been regular with the exception of missing 1 in the last 6 months. I ovulated about 14 days ago and have not had a period as of yet. The week of ovulation I had mild cramping and backache. I had never experienced this before and my breasts have been swollen and tender since that time. Are all these symptoms just hormonal to perimenopause or could it be something else. Maybe it’s just PMS and my period is late or skipping altogether . Had sex 1 day before ovulation but I seriously doubt any ramifications from that. Any info would be appreciated…..thanks!

Likely perimenopausal. At your age, that’s the most likely explanation. You can expect hormone fluctuations during perimenopause, like for example estrogen spikes–that’s probably what is causing the breast tenderness. If the problem persists for a few more weeks, then see your gynecologist.

does perimenopause or menopause share some of the same syptoms with pregnancy?08.23.10

Question by FaeryVixend: does perimenopause or menopause share some of the same syptoms with pregnancy?
I am 47 and seem to be beginning my change. I have had unprotected sex recently althought he never came inside me. this is the second time my body has FELT pregnant. Last time I got my pereod on the exact day I was supposed to. I’ve looked on all the perimenopause and menopause sites and some of the symptoms I am experiencing could be attributed to either of those, but others cant? Any help here would be appreciated. I feel crampy and my back is aching… I just wanted to ask all the ladies out there who have been thru the change, if these symptoms affected you during your change. or if I should panic about a pregnancy that is way to late in my life?

I’ve had hot flashes, night sweats, irregular periods and a complete end to periods; and the crazy emotional up and downs (the only one similar thing to a pregnancy). Until you’re period has stopped for an entire year, you can still get pregnant. Just buy a pregnancy kit and see how the results come out.

Q&A: I need some help. My best friend is in perimenopause and hasn’t had a period since the beginning of December?07.21.10

Question by bt71: I need some help. My best friend is in perimenopause and hasn’t had a period since the beginning of December?
She says she ovulated around the 26th of Jan and had sex on the 28th…now she is experiencing very light intermittent bleeding and her breasts are swollen. She also says she is extremely fatigued. She thinks she may be pregnant. I told her to take a pregnancy test but I was intrigued by all the combination of symptoms and thought I would get some feedback. I just think it’s menopause…any thoughts?
she is 47 sorry about omitting age!

Peri-menopausal Women: What vitamins do you take to COMBAT some of the perimenopause symptoms?07.16.10

Question by Sustagurl2: Peri-menopausal Women: What vitamins do you take to COMBAT some of the perimenopause symptoms?
My aunt is 47 years old & is experiencing HORRIFIC peri-menopause symptoms.

She & I have researched HRT & have decided she WILL NOT be taking it, due to the MANY negative side effects.

We know there is a better way to great health, i.e. diet, exercise & nutrients, basically, a life-style change, if you will.

That being said, what vitamins have helped you to COMBAT the perimenopausal symptoms?
