Could I be pregnant or going through perimenopause?10.27.11

Question by sunshine39: Could I be pregnant or going through perimenopause?
I am 39 years old, and I got my period last month and it lasted about 7 days – this month it came and it was only 1 day, but still have cramping like it is going to be coming – I have also been running a low grade temp for over a week anywhere from 99 – 99.5 degrees. I am not sure if this is a sign of pregnancy or could I be going through perimenopause. I would appreciate anyone that could help.

Thanks

Question by toolaby: Do women going through perimenopause have stomaches that are bloated?
I’m 47 years old and going through the perimenopause stage. I get my period then I miss them for 1, 2 or 3 months. This goes back and forth. Lately my stomach is feeling very bloated and puffy is this due to the perimenopause stage? What can I do to help my stomach feeling bloated and uncomfortable?

What is the youngest age a woman can go through menopause?10.11.11

Question by Mithrandir_black: What is the youngest age a woman can go through menopause?
I’m only 25 but I’ve been having symptoms of menopause, is this even possible? I’ve had problems with my period ever since I got it, so I wouldn’t be surpised! Thanks.
I won’t be able to go to a doctor for about 2 weeks, we’re in the middle of moving and pretty much all of our time is used up packing and working. I’m kinda embarrassed to even ask a Doc about it. It seems kinda ridiculous.
I’ll give you some history real quick.
I’ve always missed periods, from 6 weeks in between to 4 months (been since Sept this time). Bad cramps all the time. Went on the pill for about 7 years on and off to control it. Didn’t have insurance for the last 2 years and went off it. In the last year, had major issues, longer gaps and longer lasting (3 weeks one time), had hair grow on my face and breasts (never did before) and had a higher temp then normal.
I guess it is pretty dumb that I’m embarassed to ask my doc, I had a bad experinace when I asked one about something I thought I had. I was mocked and laughed at. I stopped going to see him.

Yes, it’s possible although it’s not very likely. It could be something else. What you do need to do is speak with your doctor or gynocologist about the symptoms that you are experiencing.

How could you tell that you were going through perimenopause or premenopause?10.08.11

Question by CC Curious: How could you tell that you were going through perimenopause or premenopause?
At what age did it start for you?
Did your periods get heavier and or you missed or were late for them?
Did you feel like you were losing it sometimes?

Answer by ivillage4women
Many women begin to experience changes in their menstrual periods beginning in the late 30s to early 40s. This is the start of perimenopause, the variable amount of time before menopause, the complete loss of ovarian hormone function. During perimenopause, ovulation may become sporadic as hormone levels fluctuate. Some women may begin to skip periods or have heavier flow. More PMS-type symptoms, especially mood swings, may occur.
