Q&A: How does a man’s sex drive change over time?05.11.12

Question by fdjoae k: How does a man’s sex drive change over time?
I know that it is supposed to go down over time, but I don’t know exactly by how much. Does anyone know a chart that illustrates the change? Also, is the male sex drive still comparibly higher at a given age than a woman’s at the same age?

Will anorgasmia and lowered libido caused by Prozac get better with time?02.12.12

Question by sam5935: Will anorgasmia and lowered libido caused by Prozac get better with time?
I recently started taking Prozac, 10 mgs. for depression. I immediately got anorgasmia, and a significantly lowered libido. My psych. says this may get better with time, but my understanding is that these types of side effects rarely improve. Anyone know the answer to this?

according to your age. this may get better in time. but if you’re over 35, this may be an ongoing thing. give your body enough time to adjust to the prosaz. you haven’t taken it long enough to know yet. six months from now–if you’re still having this problem, go on another kind of med with less side-effects. good luck.

when is the best time of month to test if perimenopause?10.04.11

Question by Pam: when is the best time of month to test if perimenopause?
I am only in my early 40s but I am showing signs of perimenopause. I am wondering when is the best time of the month to test my hormone levels? Also is it even worth the trouble? I will be going to my regular doctor to also check that it is not something completely different going on.

Answer by Jessemar
i don’t know about the right time to test, but i am going thru perimenopause and i was told that testing for hormone levels doesn’t usually show any difference. doctors apparently go by your symptoms, not by blood work. everyone is different so a drop or raise in hormone levels in some women will cause no symptoms, whereas others with normal levels will have hot flashes, night sweats, etc. hopefully you’ve got a good doctor who will be able to help find an answer for you.
