Hello Linda:
That is a great question and one that I am constantly researching. I have tried several herbal supplements, mostly soy based foods and supplements, but they lose efficacy after a couple of months.
Specifically, I am currently using Estroven PM, this is an over the counter 'Natural" supplement and although I felt some relief the first month, with night sweats and irritability, I am once again on the prowl as I am beginning to sense the nervousness and irritability.
Like you, I would like to hear what other ladies have to say. By the way, it is nice to be able to talk about such an interesting topic.

Regards,

Liz

While it is true that falling hormones is a natural part of menopause, our levels are WAY off due to the American culture. American women have entirely too much estrogen in their bodies - toxins, pesticides, hormones in our dairy and livestock, etc.

In menopause, our body's own estrogen production drops by 40 - 60%. On the other hand, our body's own progesterone production drops to near zero. Typically, women have enough fat cells to continue to make estrogen well into old age.

Most women never need to supplement estrogen. What they need is progesterone! I am using a bio-identical progesterone cream, and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Check out Dr. John Lee's book called "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause". It is very informative and helpful.

Here's my disclaimer - I've not experienced menopause but when I do, I will investigate bio-identical hormones. A friend of mine went this route, and she thinks it worked well for her. Also, I will absolutely stay away from sugar and sugar substitutes because those exacerabates the symptoms. Good luck.

Hormone therapy is normally used as a way to get through the first stages of menopause. You said that you have already gone through menopause with relative ease - it sounds like you don't need added hormones. The decrease in hormones is a natural occurrence that every female (and male) goes through. If you are feeling fine - skip the medication and enjoy life.

I am past menopause also, and a first used prempro to decrease the night sweats. After the information that came out regarding and increase risk in heart disease, I went off of all hormones. I am doing just fine with out them.

For more information on menopause take the free health assessment at the link below

Has your doctor told you you need hormone replacement?

If he/she has, of course you already would know about it and wouldn't be asking here.

So you may be trying to medicate yourself.

No, no, not a very good idea.

Go to your doctor and explain whatever you feel you need to know about your circumstances.

Don't try to go solo on this.

You are dealing with your health.

Go to your specialist.

Do not lose time. And then take it from there.

Best of luck.
